Welcome to Cornerstone Academics.
Every family is unique. The experiences we've walked through in life have shaped our priorities and values in deeply personal ways. Some families focus heavily on religion, others on music or sports, and most choose some combination of subjects and activities. Some spend copious amounts of time in academics, while others take a more relaxed approach without the constant push.
My name is Serena Augustin. I am a homeschool mother to five very active children and a teacher with 25 years of experience and a master's degree in elementary education. I have worked with homeschool moms for more than two decades as a tutor, advisor, and friend, and I know firsthand the insecurities and feelings of inadequacy that many parents carry when they begin educating their children at home.
This blog was born from a desire to give parents a safe, honest place to find answers to the questions you may have about homeschooling, support for struggling students, and real encouragement not to settle for anything less than your best in motherhood and this homeschool journey.
