Student Workbook Set

The Cornerstone Academics Vanguard Literature Grade 12 Student Workbook Set is a complete, year-long literature program built around 36 original classical short stories — the culminating year of the Vanguard Literature high school curriculum.

Grade 12 stories are set in the full weight of historical consequence: a ferryman on a Scottish river in the year of the Jacobite rising, a glassblower on Murano watching his hands, a librarian in Acre with one hour before the gates fall, a widow in her apothecary's garden in the last spring she will tend it. These are stories about what work requires at the end of things — when the craftsman's hands begin to fail, when the commission is the last one, when what is being done is being done for the last time or by the last person who knows how. They are also stories about beginnings: the young interpreter who finds his first real translation problem, the seventeen-year-old confronted with the rival workshop's prodigy. At Grade 12, the curriculum asks students to hold both ends of that range with sustained attention.
