📦 Shipping Notice for Print Books

To keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend placing smaller print book orders whenever practical. Orders that exceed our print partner's U.S. shipping weight limit may be fulfilled from a U.K. facility, resulting in significantly higher shipping charges. If you're purchasing several print books, placing two or more smaller orders will often reduce your shipping costs.

The Bell That Was Not Rung — Roberto Malatesta sits in the tower of Santa Croce in Florence in 1527 with the rope in his hands at the hour for Vespers and does not pull it. He has been ringing this bell for twenty-two years and knows the hour as well as he knows anything. The city below is the reason he does not pull — not from cowardice or oversight, but from a judgment that is harder to make than ringing would have been, and that the story asks the reader to understand from the inside.
