The Calligrapher’s Eye — Ibrahim receives a commission in Baghdad in 920 requiring completion by Friday — five days, which is not enough for a work of this length and precision. The vizier's secretary says the Caliph requires it by Friday. Ibrahim says the Caliph's requirement does not change the number of hours in five days. The story is about what is within his reach, and what he does with five days that contain what they contain.
