📦 Shipping Notice for Print Books
To keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend placing smaller print book orders whenever practical. Orders that exceed our print partner's U.S. shipping weight limit may be fulfilled from a U.K. facility, resulting in significantly higher shipping charges. If you're purchasing several print books, placing two or more smaller orders will often reduce your shipping costs.
The Philosopher's Goat — Kratinos the philosopher acquired a goat from a stonecutter who had no use for it, named it Pyrrho after the philosopher who maintained that nothing can be known with certainty, and installed it in the courtyard where his students worked. His student Philemon has been studying with Kratinos for eight months and has developed strong views about the proper conduct of philosophical inquiry — none of which prepared him for the goat's views on the same subject.
