📦 Shipping Notice for Print Books
To keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend placing smaller print book orders whenever practical. Orders that exceed our print partner's U.S. shipping weight limit may be fulfilled from a U.K. facility, resulting in significantly higher shipping charges. If you're purchasing several print books, placing two or more smaller orders will often reduce your shipping costs.
The Salt Carrier — Hailu Tadesse has made forty-one crossings of the Danakil with amole salt bars and knows the route the way a man knows something he has lived inside for twenty years. A young man named Dawit joins the caravan in the Ethiopian Highlands in 1880, having been twice before with other caravans, with the look of a man who has been told his previous crossings count for something. Hailu does not say anything about it. Every crossing shows him something the previous crossing didn't.
