📦 Shipping Notice for Print Books
To keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend placing smaller print book orders whenever practical. Orders that exceed our print partner's U.S. shipping weight limit may be fulfilled from a U.K. facility, resulting in significantly higher shipping charges. If you're purchasing several print books, placing two or more smaller orders will often reduce your shipping costs.
The Cornerstone Academics Vanguard Literature Grade 5 Student Workbook Set is a complete, year-long literature program built around 36 original classical short stories written for upper elementary students.
Each story is morally clear and emotionally honest — characters act from recognizable motives, face real consequences, and are changed by what they do or fail to do. Stories include fairy tales, fables, and original short fiction drawn from historical settings. At the Grade 5 level, the moral stakes are personal and immediate: honesty, courage, kindness, and the willingness to do the right thing when it costs something.
This set includes two books:
- Student Workbook, Semester 1 (Weeks 1–18)
- Student Workbook, Semester 2 (Weeks 19–36)
Each weekly lesson includes:
- Written narration prompts (oral and written)
- Comprehension questions
- Vocabulary exercises
- Story Arc graphic organizer
- Theme and meaning questions
- Copywork, dictation, and memory work in the Charlotte Mason tradition
- Poetry selection with response activities
The curriculum follows a one-story-per-week rhythm across 36 weeks. Most families spend 20–30 minutes per day, four days per week. No additional books or materials are required.
This program is well suited for homeschool families, co-ops, and classrooms seeking literature that is wholesome, intellectually engaging, and aligned with a classical or Charlotte Mason education.
Written for Grade 5. Suitable for Grades 4–6 with guidance. This product is available as a digital download only.
