📦 Shipping Notice for Print Books
To keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend placing smaller print book orders whenever practical. Orders that exceed our print partner's U.S. shipping weight limit may be fulfilled from a U.K. facility, resulting in significantly higher shipping charges. If you're purchasing several print books, placing two or more smaller orders will often reduce your shipping costs.
The Cornerstone Academics Vanguard Literature Grade 6 Student Workbook Set is a complete, year-long literature program built around 36 original classical short stories written for middle school students.
Each story is morally grounded and emotionally honest — characters act from recognizable motives, face sustained consequences, and are changed by what they do or fail to do. Stories are drawn from historical settings spanning the ancient world through the twentieth century, placing students inside moments where ordinary people face decisions that carry weight beyond themselves. At the Grade 6 level, the moral stakes deepen: stories explore competing loyalties, the cost of truthfulness, the discipline required by a craft or calling, and situations where doing the right thing affects an entire household, workshop, or community.
This set includes two books:
- Student Workbook, Semester 1 (Weeks 1–18)
- Student Workbook, Semester 2 (Weeks 19–36)
Each weekly lesson includes:
- Notes on historical setting and literary tradition
- Narration prompts (oral and written)
- Comprehension questions — literal and inferential
- Vocabulary exercises
- Character Constellation graphic organizer
- Theme & Meaning questions
- Socratic discussion questions
- Literary Analysis (symbolism, turning point, motif, foreshadowing, narrative restraint, structure)
- Copywork and memory work
- Optional writing prompts (reflective, explanatory, creative, analytical)
- Complete parent answer key
The curriculum follows a one-story-per-week rhythm across 36 weeks. Most families spend 30–45 minutes per day, four days per week. No additional books or materials are required.
This program is well suited for homeschool families, co-ops, and classrooms seeking literature that is intellectually serious, morally substantive, and aligned with a classical or Charlotte Mason education.
Written for Grade 6. Suitable for Grades 5–7 with guidance. This product is available as a digital download only.
