What the Physician Kept — Khalid ibn Rashid notices in February that his mentor's notebooks are disappearing — not through inventory but through the awareness that eight years in the same rooms has given him. The notebooks contain forty years of clinical observation in tenth-century Córdoba, and the conclusion in the final volume is one that Ibn Sulayman has decided should not stand in the record. Khalid must decide whether that decision belongs to the physician alone.
